Calculate Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) or Total Calorie Rate depending on your Activities
Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR is the amount of calories you would burn if you were asleep all day. The Miffin-St.Jeor Equation determines your total daily energy expenditure (calories).
The BMR formula uses the variables of height, weight, age and gender to calculate the Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). This tool then uses the Miffin-St.Jeor Equation to determine your total daily energy expenditure (calories). The Miffin-St.Jeor Equation is a formula that uses your BMR and then applies an activity factor.
The different activity levels used are:
- Rest = Basic Metabolic Rate
- Sedentary = desk job and little to no exercise Lightly Active = light exercise/sports 1-3/days/week
- Moderatley Active = moderate exercise/sport 3-5days/week;
- Very Active = hard exercise/sports 6-7days/week;
- Extremely Active = hard daily exercise/sports and physical job or training
